Portability

The OKMO G2000 is portable in the sense you can easily take it with you on road trips or carry it out to the backyard for an outdoor movie night. That said, it does weigh almost 50 pounds. Its top-mounted handles are also a bit awkward to grip, so it’s not something you’ll want to carry far (especially with just one person).

The rugged build of the G2000 makes it just as useful for outdoor activities as it is for emergency use around the house. It’s also relatively compact, especially for the amount of power that it can give you, small enough to fit in easily with your other gear if you’re tailgating or camping.

Ports and Power

The 10 output ports on the OKMO G2000 can be used simultaneously, putting out a total of 2,000 continuous watts. That’s plenty to power the majority of appliances, tools, and other devices, even heavy-duty kitchen appliances and power tools. One handy feature is its fast-charge USB port, which recharges laptops and smartphones about 40% faster than a standard port.

The battery capacity of the G2000 is equally impressive at over 2,200 watt hours. That’s plenty to last most through an entire weekend camping trip on a single charge, or provide emergency power around the house for 2-4 days, depending on how many appliances and devices you plug into it.

Pros

  • Charge up to 10 devices simultaneously
  • Fast device charging through 65W USB port
  • Relatively compact with convenient top-mounted handles
  • Provides emergency power for 2-4 days
  • Flexible recharging options
  • Built-in BMS with multiple layers of protection

Cons

  • Takes a while to recharge

Recharging Options

There are a variety of ways to recharge the G2000. It comes with an AC adapter and car cable, so there are 2 recharging methods right out of the box. It can also be recharged using a USB-C adapter, and the built-in MPPT controller also means it can be recharged through a solar array of up to 200W. Keep in mind the solar panels aren’t included, something to factor into your budget if you plan to utilize that option.

While it’s flexible in terms of recharging, the OKMO G2000 isn’t the fastest power station on the market to recharge. You’ll need at least 11 hours to fully recharge it through a wall outlet or solar panel, and even longer if you’re using a car charging port (or if sun conditions aren’t ideal during solar charging).

Durability and Safety

OKMO G2000

When you’re buying a back-up power source, reliability is one of the most important considerations—it’s no use to you if it can’t give you power when you need it. The solid external build of the OKMO G2000 is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to its safety protections. Its intelligent battery management system protects the battery from damage from over-charging, over-discharges, short-circuits, and other common issues, while its temperature control system prevents overheating. All together, this gives the G2000 excellent marks when it comes to long-term reliability.

OKMO G2000 Review: The Bottom Line

Choosing a portable power station really comes down to how you plan to use it. The OKMO G2000 is an excellent choice for emergency preparedness around the home (>>> Buy directly from OKMO). It’s also a great choice for RVs, road trips, and other outdoor use, though its relatively long recharging time and high weight limit its use for more extensive wilderness camping excursions. Still, for most users, its combination of high capacity, good output variety, and durability make it a very appealing choice.
