Capacity and Power

The EcoFlow River Pro has the power output most need for traveling and road trips, with a 720Wh capacity and a continuous AC output of 600W. The X-Boost function increases that power output as high as 1,800W, but not for all the outlets. You can also expand that capacity to 1440Wh by adding a second battery.

The EcoFlow Delta Mini has a similar X-Boost function to the River Pro, but its output is higher without that function, providing up to 1,400W of pure sine wave power. Its capacity is also slightly higher out of the box, and can be tripled by adding up to 2 additional batteries, giving users much more power potential.

Recharging Time

You’ll get three recharging methods for both of these power stations: solar panel, AC outlet, or car charging port. The car charging option is the slowest for both, needing 9-10 hours for a full recharge. Their solar panel recharging times are also similar, though the Delta Mini is compatible with more powerful solar panels, allowing it to recharge in as little as 3 hours in ideal sun conditions.

The biggest difference here is their AC outlet recharging times. The X-Stream recharging of the Delta Mini allows it to be charged from empty to 80% in less than an hour. The charging time is still fast for the River Pro, but you’ll need at least 90 minutes to get a full charge even with the fast charging option.

Faster recharging time: EcoFlow Delta Mini

Ports

The EcoFlow River Pro has 10 ports, all of which can be used simultaneously. This includes 3 AC outlets as well as a variety of DC and USB ports, including a fast-charging USB-A option. Most users will find this is plenty of power options. If you need more, though, the Delta Mini can simultaneously charge up to 12 devices, with 5 total AC outlets as well as the same DC and USB options you’ll find on the River Pro.

EcoFlow Delta Mini

EcoFlow Delta Mini

The compact EcoFlow Delta Mini is a convenient way for campers and travelers to keep their devices powered while they’re on the road. It has an impressive power to weight ratio, with enough juice to fully charge a laptop 12 times or run a CPAP machine for about 13 hours, all in a power station that weighs just over 20 pounds.

The EcoFlow Delta Mini is also convenient to recharge. Its built-in MPPT system gives it good efficiency for solar recharging, though you will still need as much as 8 hours to fill it up this way, depending on your solar panel array and the sun conditions. The fastest option is its X-Stream Fast Charge, which can get the power station from 0 to 80% in less than an hour.

You can also run high-powered devices with the EcoFlow Delta Mini thanks to its X-Boost function. This means it can output up to 1,000 continuous watts through its AC outlets, safely running things like power tools or kitchen appliances. Now, bear in mind it won’t run these devices for long. You’ll only get about 30-60 minutes of run time from things that need 1,000 watts or more, like coffee makers, saws, or refrigerators. Because of this, we don’t necessarily recommend it for professional use, but it’s a very helpful thing to have around the house for shorter work and projects, especially given its quick recharging time.

Pros

  • Can power devices up to 1,800W
  • Compatible with solar panels up to 400 watts
  • Fast recharging option
  • Compact and portable
  • Good variety of output options
  • Robust battery management system and safety protections

Cons

  • Takes a while to rechage through solar panels
  • Can’t run high-powered devices for very long

EcoFlow River Pro

EcoFlow River Pro

The EcoFlow River Pro shares a lot of strengths with the Delta Mini above. It’s even more compact, weighing less than 20 pounds. Its design makes it easier to carry, too, with a top-mounted handle provides a comfortable, stable grip. Features like the front-mounted flashlight and backlit display make it a great choice for emergency preparedness as well as camping or traveling.

The EcoFlow River Pro also has an X-Boost function that allows it to power some devices up to 1,800 watts. However, you’ll only get up to 600W of pure sine wave power out of the AC outlets without the X-Boost function, so while it can run things like coffee makers and refrigerators, it’s at its best powering smaller devices. There are three ways to recharge the EcoFlow River Pro. Using a 220W solar panel array, it can be fully recharged in 4-8 hours, depending on the weather. The slowest recharging method is thorugh a car adapter, which will take as much as 8 hours for a full recharge. For a faster recharge you can use an AC outlet, dropping the time down to under 2 hours.

Pros

  • Super portable design
  • Can run some high-powered devices through X-Boost
  • Simultaneously charges up to 10 devices
  • Fast AC outlet recharging
  • Compatible with solar recharging

Cons

  • AC output maximum of 600W continuous (1,200W surge)
  • Not as many AC outlets

The Verdict

Most users will find the EcoFlow Delta Mini is the better option (>>> Check the current price on Amazon). It’s more powerful, recharges faster, and has more options for simultaneous charging. On the other hand, though, the River Pro is lighter and easier to carry, while still putting out enough power for the devices most need to use and recharge while they’re on the go. This makes it a great option for campers, hikers, and others who need to strike a balance between power and portability.
