Maximum Load

A power station’s continuous load tells you how many watts it can put out at once, across all of its output ports. This won’t be much of a concern if you’ll primarily be charging electronic devices like laptops and smartphones, but will come into play for running power tools or household appliances.

In real-world terms, that means the EB240 can run a 60-watt device for about 4 hours longer than the AC200, and will give you about 20 more smartphone recharges before you need to plug it in.

The number and variety of outputs on the Bluetti EB240 are sufficient for most, with 2 AC outlets, a DC out, and 5 USB ports. Recharging Speed

A complete recharge of the Bluetti EB240 can take a while no matter which method you use. A full recharge from a wall outlet takes roughly 12 hours. Using a solar panel, you can expect it to take 15 hours or more depending on your array.

Some of the recharging methods for the AC200 require a similarly long timeframe—you’ll need about 18 hours to fully recharge it using a car charger, for example. It has a potentially much faster recharge time through solar panels, however, as little as 3 hours using a full 700W array. It also has the option of dual AC adapter recharging, cutting the wall outlet recharge time to a similarly quick 3 hours.

It can put out up to 2,000 watts of continuous power, enough to run large appliances like refrigerators and window AC units. You’ll get ample places to plug in those devices, too, with a plethora of ports including 6 AC outlets, a fast-charging USB port, and wireless charging for devices up to 15 watts.

Most power stations don’t come with solar panels, even if they’re solar-recharging capable. With the Bluetti AC200, you’ll have the option for solar recharging right out of the box, with 3 included foldable solar panels. It can also be recharged through a wall outlet or car outlet, or by connecting it to an external battery or gas-powered generator. It recharges quickly, too—as little as 3 hours with the right solar array or when using dual AC adapters.

As you might expect given its capacity, the Bluetti AC200 is a hefty unit. It weighs about 60 pounds, so while it is portable, it’s not a power pack you can throw in your backpack and take on the trail. This makes it ideal for RVers, tailgate parties, and backyard hang-outs where you need something you can move around but won’t need to take it too far by hand. It’s an equally great choice for emergency preparedness, with an easy to read touch-friendly screen that makes it simple for anyone to operate the power station.

The Bluetti EB240 is built to be taken on the road. Its slim housing is only 6.5 inches across, making it easier to fit in a trunk or on a shelf. The top-mounted handle is comfortable and sturdy and it weighs less than the AC200, too, so it’s overall easier to move from place to place.

The 1,000-watt maximum output of the Bluetti EB240 is plenty for the majority camping, road trip, and tailgate uses, and high enough for short-term emergency power, capable of running a full-sized fridge for about 3 hours. That said, it’s not the best option for powering multiple appliances at once, both due to its lower maximum load and its more limited output ports. It’s better for electronic devices than appliances, with 5 USB ports and the capacity for 200 or more phone recharges.

The Bluetti EB240 comes with the cables you’ll need to recharge it through a car dash or wall outlet. It can also be recharged using solar panels, though you’ll need to buy those separately. The battery has a long lifecycle and continues to take a full charge after more than 2,500 recharges. It also has good built-in protections against overcharging, short-circuits, and other common causes of battery damage and failure, so while it’s not the fastest-charging power station out there, it’s stacks up better in terms of long-term reliability.

The Verdict

At first glance, it seems like the Bluetti EB240 is the better value between these two power stations. That’s true if you plan to recharge it through a wall outlet, but keep in mind you’ll need to buy solar panels separately. The 3 SP120 solar panels that come with the Bluetti AC200 would cost about as much as the price difference between the units, so if you plan to recharge through solar panels, they’re equal in terms of value. With its higher max output, faster recharging speed, and wider array of outputs, the Bluetti AC200 is a better option for emergency preparedness around the home, and will be the more convenient choice for many on the go uses, too. On the other hand, though, campers and travelers may prefer the more portable, longer-lasting Bluetti AC240.
