You’ll find plenty of portable power packs capable of jumpstarting a conventional gas-powered engine, but drivers of all-electric vehicles are in more of a pickle if they run out of juice between charging stations. In this AllPowers Monster X review, we’ll look at a model that can provide back-up power for most electric vehicles, along with power tools, camping supplies, and household appliances. This makes it one of the most versatile power stations on the market and an excellent thing to have on-hand in an emergency whether you’re at home or on the road (>>> Find on Amazon).

Overall Design

The AllPowers Monster X packs a lot of power into a compact package. For context, it’s about the size of a small cooler—definitely small enough to take with you for tailgates and road trips and still have room in your trunk for your other gear. Now keep in mind it does weigh over 40 pounds. The top-mounted handles are sturdy, but they’re not the most comfortable to use, and it’s not something most will want to carry by themselves for a long distance.

The output ports are all conveniently located on the front panel of the Monster X. We especially appreciate the spacing of the AC outlets, which are wide enough to accommodate large and oddly-shaped plugs. You’ll get a lot of them, too, 11 in total, including both common USB styles and a 12V DC port along with the AC outlets.

The display of the Monster X is more sophisticated than those on most portable power stations, too. It lights up, for one thing, extremely helpful if you’re trying to use it during a roadside emergency or power outage. It also shows more detailed information about the temperature, output, and battery status so you can better manage and control the power station.

Powering Devices

Anything that can be charged using a standard wall outlet can be powered with the AllPowers Monster X. It puts out up to 2,000 continuous watts of pure sine wave power, enough even for full-sized refrigerators, portable heaters, and other high-wattage devices. You can even use it to recharge an electric car battery. Granted, you’ll only get about 15 kilometers (roughly 10 miles), but that can be enough to get you to the next charging station—or, at the least, a safer area to wait for help than the side of the road.

You’ll get much longer use of other items with the AllPowers Monster X. For context, it’ll run a 65-watt minifridge for about 25 hours, or give you roughly 2-3 hours of operation from a 1,000-watt device like a microwave or electric skillet.

Pros

  • High capacity and power
  • Works as a back-up charger for most electric vehicles
  • Recharges in as little as 3 hours
  • Multiple recharging methods (wall outlet, type-c outlet, or solar panel)
  • Simultaneously charges up to 11 devices
  • Detailed backlit display can be read day or night
  • Control through your phone using the AllPowers app

Cons

  • Can be awkward to carry for longer distances

Recharging

There are 3 ways to recharge the AllPowers Monster X. It comes with the cables to recharge it using a wall outlet or type-c outlet, though most people won’t want to use that last one—it can take up to a full day to recharge through the type-c option. The wall outlet is much faster, giving you a full charge in around 4-5 hours.

You can also expand these charging options by adding accessories. It supports solar charging, with a recharge time of around 6 hours using a 200W solar array in full sunlight. It also has a super-fast recharging option by plugging it into 3 outlets at the same time, dropping the recharge time down to as little as 2.5 hours.

Wireless Connectivity

AllPowers Monster X

The AllPowers Monster X has built-in Bluetooth connectivity. This lets you pair it with your phone and control it using the AllPowers app, which is free to download on both Android and iOS devices. Since it connects via Bluetooth, this will work even if your router is out or you’re at a campsite.

AllPowers Monster X Review In Summary

For portable emergency preparedness, the AllPowers Monster X is one of the best power stations on the market. Its power and output let it truly replace a wall outlet and run full-sized and high-power devices at their full capacity, while its variety of output options is ideal for camping, tailgating, and other outdoor fun. The option to control and monitor it through your phone is just the icing on the cake, honestly, adding to the strengths of this user-friendly, remarkably versatile portable power station (>>> Check on Amazon).
